THANKSGIVING AND BAPTISMAL SERVICE OF KAMSIYOCHUKWU CHANA CHIMAMANDA ILO

Report by Nnabugwu Chizoba

The birth of a Child is a joyous occasion in the life of a family. It is always an occasion for rejoicing, celebration and thanksgiving, not only to the family members, but also, friends, neighbours and the entire community, as a whole.

For the Christian Families, like the Ekene Ilo family, it is a practice to present and dedicate their new born to God Almighty, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings, through a Church service. This presentation of the Child in the Church is also a moment for the Parents to return thanks to God for His protection over the woman during Child-birth. Hence, it is a spiritual obligation that true Christians perform with joy, praises and thanksgiving.
For the Family of Ekene and Florence Ilo, of St Piran’s Church, Jos, Plateau State, Sunday, the 21st of August 2016, is not just, any other day. This is because the day presented an opportunity, for the Family to present to the Almighty God, through the Church of St Piran’s, their daughter, KAMSIYOCHUKWU CHANA CHIMAMANDA ILO.

ANAN MCPD GALA NIGHT AT “OBODO NGWORI”, A NIGHT TO REMEMBER AND CELEBRATE AS AN EXHIBITION OF LOCAL DELICACIES AND CULTURE: THE INSIGHT INTO THE TOURISM POTENTIALS OF NIGERIA.

 By Nnabugwu Chizoba

ANAN President, Chief Anthony Chukwuemeka Nzom
Owerri, the Eastern Hartland, better known, as OBODO NGWORI, that is, the land of hospitality, relaxation and enjoyment; a name given to the city because of the serenity, security, and convenience with which people of different ages, diverse backgrounds, standard and categories, access and explore the enormous opportunities available in the city to address their craving for pleasure, fun, and entertainment.

In a recent event, the City, as always rekindled the longing, desire and interest of many people, when it created and expanded the peoples’ feeling, appetite and love, for culture and tourism; as some of the participants of the event expressed.

The above was achieved, through a combination of scintillating cultural performances, highly coordinated dance steps and body movements, responding to the musical rhythms by the beautiful maidens, carefully selected to demonstrate the immense cultural heritage and obviously untapped potential, waiting to be developed. This was in addition to a very wonderful rendition of local songs and displays, all put together for those that attended the Gala Night organized by the Imo State Branch of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), for the pleasure, comfort and relaxation of Accounting Professionals from different States in Nigeria, who gathered in Owerri, the Imo State Capital, to attend the 4th Session, 2016 Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD), progamme of ANAN.

2016 FATHERS DAY, A SPECIAL ONE

By Nnabugwu Chizoba

This year 2016, marks 106 years that Fathers’ Day began. An event that is organized annually to honour and acknowledge the role of Fathers, in the Family setting and to celebrate Fatherhood, generally.

To ensure that you won’t forget, let me also remind you that it is also a day, to celebrate Grandfathers, Great Grandfathers and Father figures for their contributions, individually/severally and collectively.

This reminder is very important, especially when you consider that many people including you, my esteemed reader, may not have included them in your programme of events today. Please find a way to adjust your schedule.

As a matter of fact some of them, especially the Great Grandfathers, are very weak, and no longer move about while some of them are not lucky to always have their Great Grandchildren around. Similarly, some of them do not have anybody to take care of them.

Report compiled by Nnabugwu Euphemia Ngozi

Yes We Can, this young generation seems to be saying

Sports has been identified as vital to the holistic development of young people. This was noted by the Acting Headmistress of St’ Piran’s Church School, during the School’s Bi-annual inter-house sports competition, held at the School’s premises in Jos, Plateau State.
Mrs. A.O Aina, Acting Headmistress, St' Piran's Church School

The Acting Headmistress of the School, Mrs. Aina, also informed the huge crowd at the event that the school do not only aim to breed academic stars but also to produce giants and stars in sports who with the fear of God will lead this Nation (Nigeria) to higher heights.

She also noted that sports and physical exercise are important to produce healthy citizens, and on this note called on parents to embrace light exercises and workouts as a way of life, saying “it is what every individual should delight in”.

Continuing, she stated that the school has been coming out victorious in all the invitational sporting events, taken part in, both in the past and at the present. Apart from winning laurels at invitational events, the school, has also been doing well in other sporting competitions, she added. Citing the recently concluded “All Anglican Primary/Secondary schools sports competition”, she said, “This is an occasion to remember, as St’ Piran’s Church School came second, and was honoured with a trophy”.
