FORWARD TO THE PAST. MEET THE FOUNDER UNIVERSITY OF JOS AND FIRST AFRICAN PROFESSOR OF GEOLOGY

By Nnabugwu Chizoba

Professor Olaloye Oyawoye, founder Uni-Jos

It will not be a bogus claim to state that, most of the people that know the University of Jos, including the students, graduates, parents, their relations, friends, lecturers, staff of the University, and numerous others living within the school vicinity and around the city of Jos and Plateau State in general, do not know who the founder of University of Jos, is.

History, as I recorded some time ago on this platform, is the most potent element in the awesome world of human evolution. It is a shared feature of the human dynamics that reveals the vagaries and combination of events and materials in development, ideas, ethos and values.

UNIJOS MANAGEMENT Vs SUG: IS THIS DICTATORSHIP AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL VIOLATION OF STUDENTS’ RIGHTS NECESSARY?

By Chizoba Nnabugwu
The importance of learning and knowledge acquisition to both Men and Women, in their efforts to make the best out of the Biblical injunction, which enjoins Man to:
“Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that move upon the earth” can never be over emphasized.

The above, easily calls to mind the relevance of Research, information seeking, data analysis, and of course, the indispensability of informed conclusions. This understanding is as a matter of fact, very essential as it explains why human capacity development is not only important but equally very crucial to Man (used here for both sexes) in the deliberate efforts to develop the self and the environment, and in doing so rule the earth and have dominion over it.

TEENS CORNER : Prince Emmanuel C. Umahi writes on SCHOOL LIFE

By Prince Umahi, (AKA) De Lyrical Poet

School life was an interesting journey
Where we disagreed, fought but reconciled in harmony.
    We all had different backgrounds,
But whenever there was a challenge, we never backed down.
Everybody had His/her own unique talent
But we were in unison despite been different.

♫ I remember my first day in Command Day Secondary School,
I had much gladness, but I kept my cool.
    I saw a new dawn
At the peak of my academic horizon.
Though the school anthem was stressful,
I learnt it as a new song.

In Jss1, I tried to be among the top students
And hold onto success, griming as a beloved parent.
Life was fun at that tender age
And I knew I had entered a new stage.
Secondary school was a world of its own
Where kings had different crowns and thrones.

BELFORD, PARTNERS El-SPICE MEDIA AND NATIONAL ORIENTATION AGENCY FOR THE UNVEILING OF A NEW NIGERIA “an Inter-college Kommon sense competition”

Reported By Nnabugwu Chizoba

The importance of education in the overall process of shaping or reshaping, formation or reformation; or the upgrading of capacity of both the individual and the society can never be over emphasized. For these reasons, education has since been considered a fundamental factor in all developmental efforts of any society. No nation, state or community has achieved any meaningful development, how much more attain sustainability status without substantial investment in human capital.
In one hand education has been identified as a tool for enhancing peoples’ understanding of themselves and their environment and on the other, it has been associated with the improvement in the quality of life of a people and has also led in some instances to broad social benefits.
Education has been linked to raising peoples’ productivity, creativity, promoting entrepreneurship skills and technological advancements.
The argument in some quarters that education means different things to different people has not reduced the value or undermined its role, in the efforts by man to develop self and the environment.
This conclusion has always reinforced the belief of individuals and organizations who have from time to time played one role or the other towards strengthening educational system. The insistence by individuals and organisations, to continuously invest in education may be translated into one thing, which is that the right education will eliminate some of the identified flaws in the society, if not in the immediate; but at least in the future.
