Plateau United who took the lead via a well taken shot by Kelechi John, in the 49th minute, but could not hold on to the lead, as they allowed Akwa United who came on strongly after the goal to equalize, through a goal by Friday Ubong in the 74th minute. The equalizer was the result of a pull out that goal keeper Danladi Isah of Plateau United, misjudged and the ball went into the net.

Soon after the goal was scored, the game almost lost the steam that was witnessed in the early minutes of the game. However, some individual efforts from both sides, from time to time was the only thing the spectators, mostly fans of both sides could rely on for quite sometime.

FRANCE VS PORTUGAL - SOMETHING AROUND THIS FINAL, THE TRUTH THAT YOU MUST KNOW

COPIED

Special message to friends and loved ones on Euro 2016 final!
Dear Friends,
Today is the Euro cup final between France and Portugal. I'm sure a lot of you will watch the game.  I will definitely do the same, but I'd like to share something around this final game. When it is on, take a look at the players, the referees, the linesmen and the spectators.

Out of all these category of people, the only people who don't wear a wrist watch are the players on the field. They get into the pitch and play their hearts out knowing that even though they don't know the exact time, the exact minute the game will end and the whistle will be blown, they are conscious of the fact that the game will definitely end when the one holding the time blows his whistle.

LITTLE THING THAT MATTERS - THE BEGGER AND THE GIVER

By Nnabugwu Chizoba

My people, my people. How una dey?

Please make una help me resolve the question below

Between the BEGGER and the GIVER, who does more for the other?

I ask this question mindful of the fact that the BEGGER, makes the GIVER feel very important, more recognized, better placed, indeed superior and in most cases a pillar of sort.

My inability to resolve this seemingly simple and non-issue, as some of you might classify it or claim the subject matter is, stems partly from the fact, that the above feelings are something we all crave for, struggle for and even fight for each time it is denied. Some of us even go as far as attaching themselves to other people, who they feel possess what it takes to be recognized, respected and revered.

Some members of the society, even use, GIVING to beggers and the down trodden as a means of measuring, and rating how wealthy, rich, popular some members of the society are, and as a determining factor as to how they should be treated by the society.

STORY OF THE WEEK...

COPIED

A Yoruba man mistakenly sent Two million to a wrong phone number owned by an Igbo man via mobile money transfer.

After thinking of a way to stop the person from withdrawing the money, he came up with an idea of sending a text message to the Igbo man's phone number saying, "Hello dark and worthy initiative, i hope you are Ok?
I believe you have received the money I sent to you.

It's for your initiation into the eternal mystical order of glorious satanism in the Ogboni fraternity scheduled to take place tomorrow midnight at 12 am.

The money is only for your transport. I will send your more for shopping. There are riches awaiting you in this kingdom. Two weeks after the initiation, a family member very close to your heart will die, this will unlock your ticket to wealth and you will have the ability to fly at night to any part of the world. Thanks in advance...

LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER

By Nnabugwu Chizoba

This picture has nothing to do with the family in this story

What you are about to read, is the story of the NWANKWO’s. For your information, “Nwankwo” means a boy born on Nkwo market day. Please note that this explanation has no relevance with the story you’re about to read.

If there is anything like an exemplary couple, the NWANKWO’s is one. From the easily noticeable humble carriage of the Man, to the admirable calm disposition of the Wife, people say they are a perfect blend.

According to the neighbours who were quick to discuss in details about the NWANKWO’s, because of what they consistently referred to as passionate and cordial relationship of the couple with all, said they are people of enticing personality, love, inspiration, understanding and candor.

The story is not only interesting but habours meaningful lessons, milestones and food for thought, especially for today’s parents and would be ones.

LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER

NEED TO BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THEM SOMETIMES, IF NOT ALWAYS

By Nnabugwu Chizoba

Little ones they are called, by parents, guardians, brothers, sisters, family members, family friends, neighbours, teachers, and religious leaders. Don’t get me wrong, referring to them as little ones, is not bad. At ages, 3 – 5 for example that is really what they are.

Some encounters by grownups, with the little ones, in the recent times have brought to my mind, memories of events past, which to me is worth sharing with my esteemed readers.

On a very serious note, such events have kept me struggling and wondering, as to what the grownups actually have in mind when they address them as little ones.

My struggle stems from the fact that most of the grownups, I interacted with, tend to view discussions with the little ones as not only easy and simple but with a carefree attitude. A development, I don’t think is good enough. Their line of thinking, to me harbours some degree of ignorance. Apart from being dangerous, it has been responsible for some flaws witnessed in the society, due to certain actions of some parents.

I am very much aware that some grownups have been shocked by some developments in the course of relating with their little ones.

ONE JOURNEY TOO MANY. BLAME ME IF YOU LIKE, IT WILL NOT MAKE ME TO DO IT BETTER NEXT TIME, EVEN YOU.

If you’re the blaming type, you’ll condemn me simply by reading the headline of this report. To do this will amount to, abortion before pregnancy. A condition that is very strange and equally worrisome. The reason for saying this, is not far-fetched. It is wrong to treat issues, without getting and considering the details. The consequences of such, are too many. We see them, day in, day out. As a matter of fact, the society, is being torn asunder by violent clashes and differences arising from such. I therefore appeal, for a change.

MY STORY TO LOVED ONES AT CHRISTMAS

By Nnabugwu Chizoba

Christmas is celebrated every year by Christians, all over the world. I have witnessed many, yet none compares to this year’s, 2015. This is due to some reasons.

For almost a month, before Xmas, my wife has been sick. The medical expert said she has Yellow fever and typhoid. She barely stands up. Apart from going for the medicals, the best she does, is to leave the bedroom to the sitting room.

I did not feel it so much, in terms of domestic activities, especially cooking, since I do such without much qualms. My little kids, were really a source of encouragement, inspiration and support.  The senior girl, Chinazaekpere, who turned eleven, December 6, has been very cooperative, indeed marvelous. She is always on hand, warms and serves the food. However, things were a bit tight, in the early weeks. I combined the domestic activities with the school run. However, with the close of schools, for the Xmas holiday, I felt somewhat relieved.

The foregoing, coincided with an untidy development in my office. The entrance to my office premises, for 2 months running, has been locked, owing to an altercation between the property owners and a tenant. The unfortunate, but certainly unpalatable incident, in a country with over 100 universities is shocking, disappointing and surprising. The tenant is at fault. This is authoritative, the court has said so. Besides the court pronouncement, the public domain, said he was wrong. The puritans and the moralists, fellow tenants, all blamed him, long before the court judgment. That the entrance to the office, is still locked, lives sour taste in the mouth. But as one, very active in mediation and conflict resolution, I am very much aware that those who work for peace, suffer bruises most of the time. But, the joy is always in arriving at an enduring, and of course, more cordial resolution. These are stories for another day.
