BREAKING: GOODLUCK JONATHAN EXPRESSES INTEREST IN 2019

Former president Goodluck Jonathan has declared his interest to run for presidency in 2019 in Bayelsa State today. A jubilant crowd erupted as news leaked that the former president would be holding a press briefing this afternoon.
“In a statement released by his media secretary, the former president said, he has been inundated with calls from famous Nigerians to reconsider and salvage the economy from the current decay under the APC led government.
The statement reads in part: “A while ago I stood at the Eagle Square, to offer myself for election as the President of our beloved country on the platform of our great party; the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). I decided to run for office because of the many troubles our dear country faced.
“In a hotly contested election, we ‘lost’ the election to the opposition. We would have rejected the election results but decided my personal ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.
“I made it clear then that when I leave office, Nigerians will understand the freedom they enjoyed under my administration. Are my I saint? Certainly not. Were my Ministers saints? Certainly not. But the opposition have unleashed untold hardship on Nigerians.

ABIA AT 31ST: THE GOVERNOR'S ADDRESS

State Broadcast by Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Governor, Abia State on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Abia State on Saturday August 27th 2022.

MY GOOD PEOPLE OF ABIA STATE,

It is with thanksgiving that I address you today on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the creation of Abia State.

I note that this will be my last Abia Day Broadcast to you as your elected Governor as by this time next year, you will be hearing from my successor whom God will select for you.

We have been together on this journey for the last 7 years and counting. We have weathered storms and celebrated triumphs. One thing I am not in doubt of is the fact that we have taken Abia State further than we met it 7 years ago.

NIGERIA AND INDIA'S DEVELOPMENT

The biggest country in Africa that the United Kingdom colonized is Nigeria. The biggest country that the United Kingdom colonized in Asia is India (which then comprised the present Pakistan and Bangladesh). When the UK came into Nigeria and India, like all other countries they colonized, they brought along their technology, religion (Christianity), and culture: names, dressing, food, language, etc.

FEW OF THE MANY FACES OF IGNORANCE

The judge asked the killer of former Egyptian President, Anwar Sadat, "Why did you kill Sadat?"

He said to him, "Because he is secular!"

The judge replied: "What does secular mean?"

The killer said: "I don't know!"

In the case of the attempted assassination of the late Egyptian writer, Naguib Mahfouz,  the judge asked the man who stabbed Naguib Mahfouz, "Why did you stab him?"

A MUST READ: 2023 Elections Will Be All About Religion – Ex-SGF Lawal Warns APC:

 A MUST READ:

2023 Elections Will Be All About Religion – Ex-SGF Lawal Warns APC:

Former Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has declared that the 2023 elections will be all about religion, started by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lawal spoke at the APC Northern Christian Leaders Summit Abuja 2022, on Friday.

Absolving Christians from bringing religion into Nigerian politics, Lawal warned that the ruling party should be ready for the consequences of a same faith ticket in 2023.

According to him, blaming Christians and heaping insults on Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) will not get APC anywhere.

He said “the PVC and prayers will be our weapon of choice and we will mercifully deploy them in 2023.”

The former SGF said that the agenda of Muslim-Muslim ticket is just unfolding and Christians will resist it.

He said: “We will not give up until we get Justice. I have heard friends and colleagues within and even outside the APC express some shock and even disbelieve over our reaction to the APC’s Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 general elections.

SPEECH DELIVERED BY RT HON YAKUBU DOGARA, GUEST SPEAKER AT THE APC NORTHERN CHRISTIAN LEADERS SUMMIT, ABUJA 2022 ON THE THEME, “RIGHTEOUSNESS EXALTS A NATION, BUT SIN IS A REPROACH TO ANY PEOPLE”, HELD ON FRIDAY 29TH JULY, 2022 AT THE NICON LUXURY HOTEL, ABUJA

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34

Protocols:

1. I consider it great honour and privilege to be invited as the Guest Speaker at this all-important August summit of eminent religious leaders and top-notch politicians from across all the States of the Federation. Permit me to start by profusely thanking all those involved in putting together this summit and all the delegates who have sacrificed time and their busy schedule in order to honour us with their presence, which we do not lightly esteem. I understand we are here to talk about our nation and how political choices may impact our faith and likely exacerbate the escalating parlous security situation and stymie our match towards an inclusive, peaceful and prosperous nation.

2. Not a few have expressed concerns about national outlook on all presidential tickets. Also, not a few worry that the debate was becoming corrosive, and of course, with this kind of spitting of bilious views into the political wind, there was bound to be lots of nerves in the air.

PRESENTATION OF THE 2022 ANAMBRA REVISED BUDGET

AN ADDRESS TO THE ANAMBRA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ON THE OCCASION OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE 2022 REVISED BUDGET

Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR

Governor

PROTOCOL

Let me thank you deeply for the honour to present to you the revised 2022 budget which we have tagged: “Taking Off from the Blocks”.  I regret however that one of you, the member representing the good people of Aguata II Constituency in the House of Assembly (my own representative) – Hon. Okechukwu Okoye, is still in the custody of the kidnappers. The security agencies are working very hard and around the clock to secure his freedom. God is on the throne and Anambra will win. Let me leave it at that.

THE CBN GOVERNOR MUST DISENGAGE FORTHWITH

Governor Akeredolu, SAN

The news of the purchase of Declaration of Intent and Nomination Forms to contest for the office of the President in the forthcoming general elections, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, purportedly by the supporters of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele, has been received with palpable disbelief and shock by many Nigerians. This act, if unchecked, timeously, portends great danger to the fragile economy of the country.

Rumours had been rife on the subterranean partisan activities linked to him through these shadowy characters in the recent weeks. Pictures of branded vehicles, ostensibly purchased for electioneering campaigns, were also posted on the social media. The audacious moves by those who claimed to be supporting this interest have been unsettling.

This latest news confirms that the Governor may indeed be interested in immersing himself in the murky waters of politics like any other Nigerian with partisan interests. It is incontrovertible that Mr Emefiele enjoys a constitutionally protected right to belong to any group or association and participate fully, just as any Nigerian. It is, however, difficult to imagine that a person who occupies the exalted and sensitive office of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria will be this brazen in actualizing his ambition.

ONITSHA SHALL RESURRECT!

Prof Soludo (Governor Anambra State, middle: on Red)

Every visit to Onitsh leaves one with interesting insights.  Some good, and some others bad. As a melting pot of Igbo commercial ingenuity, Onitsha is strategic, not just to ndị Anambra, but to Ndị Igbo.

Sadly, our dear Onitsha is dead!

Killed by the twin evil of social recklessness and laxity in law enforcement. Like the carcass in Ezekiel's prophecy, I believe these "dry bones shall rise again". For this to happen though, I held an interactive session today with Landlords in Onitsha - inland town and adjoining conurbations.

A lot was said, and my team and I took copious notes. However, the exciting take-away from today's meeting is that the people are hopeful and willing to become progressive partners in the arduous task of resurrecting Onitsha.

Cross session of Anambrarians,

Truth is, the “nwa otu" Spirit of Onitsha is undying. And this same spirit resonates in the homegrown solutions that were debated in the hall today.

There is new Onitsha sprouting along the banks of Nkisi and spreading into Akpaka and Nkwele. However chaotic this evolving Onitsha appears, it feels more like an important vital sign that gives credence to the fact that Onitsha isn't beyond redemption.

Onitsha shall resurrect!

OUR PARTY, APC, MUST TREAD THE PATH OF EQUITY... Governor Akeredolu, SAN

Ogun State Governor,

Our party, the All Progressives Congress, has started the process which will eventually culminate in the presentation of elected political leaders, who must steer the affairs of the country for another term. We have been able to hold the party’s Convention successfully. New officers of the party have emerged in a process that is widely acknowledged as rancour-free. The level of understanding and maturity displayed by all and sundry has been commendable. Known adversaries have been forced to accept the emerging fact that our party is formidable and ready for the next general elections.

The current socio-economic crises are surmountable. It is commendable that the Government is addressing these issues without drama. The Federal Government and leadership of our great party will come out stronger. We cannot, therefore, afford any internal bickering which holds the potential promise of causing distrust and militating against cohesion, harmony and the zeal to achieve set objectives.

The current democratic dispensation is anchored on the unwritten convention driven by a principle of Equity. Political expediency dictates, more appealingly, that while adhering to the spirit and letters of the laws guiding conduct of elections and succession to political offices, we must do nothing which is capable of tilting the delicate balance against the established arrangement which guarantees peace and promotes trust.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Today 16/03/2022, the exchange rate:

£1 = ₦783

$1 = ₦550

€1 = ₦670

42 years ago, precisely on 01/03/1980 the exchange rate was:

$1 = 0.78k

Are you surprised?

We were far more productive in 1980 than we are today.

FFK: A vulgar striker on transfer.

By Bolaji O. Akinyemi.

Politics like football or soccer as Americans will call it, has seasons when stars are open to transfer from club to club. This is usually a season their handlers must seek to strengthen their team in their areas of weaknesses with the view to have a competitions' winning team.

Femi Fani-Kayode - Haunted By A Nupe Ancestry - Fighting A Foggy Yoruba Identity Complex

By Nwankwo Tony  Nwaezeigwe  , Ph.D , Senior Research Fellow Institute of African Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Nigeria’s nationality question is neither the creation of the Igbo nor the Yoruba. It is the consequence of Hausa-Fulani’s megalomaniac quest for political power in the nation. Yet the Hausa-Fulani accept the fact that both the Igbo and Yoruba hold the key to their attainment of this divine-right objective only if both groups agree to remain suspicious of the other. It therefore becomes obvious that the solution to this national question can only be attained if both the Igbo and Yoruba realize that their mutual understanding and respect of the other’s perception of Nigeria’s progress would save the nation millions in loss of human and material resources.

NIGERIANS, ISN'T THIS WORRISOME...Suicide increasing: 37 in 2020, 51 in 2021. Won't you help to check it?

Dearies, as the world celebrates "Suicide Prevention Day", let me draw your attention on the need for you to be more caring and loving; and equally demonstrate understanding, willingness and commitment towards other peoples emotions.

My Dear Nigerians!

Today marks the 19th year of our nascent democracy and the 3rd Anniversary of this administration. I am thankful to Almighty God for bringing us thus far. This administration came at a time that Nigerians needed Change, the Change we promised and the Change we continue to deliver. We have faced a lot of challenges on this journey and Nigerians have stood by us in achieving the three cardinal points of this administration namely; Security, Corruption and the Economy.

OPINION: NIGERIAN RAILWAY TO MARADI IN NIGER REPUBLIC? NO WAY!

By: Ochereome Nnanna 8th JAN. 2018,

For some reasons unknown to me, Nigerians are no longer paying attention to things that matter about the way they are being ruled. They no longer pay attention to some of the things their rulers say. Otherwise, a strange item in President Muhammadu Buhari’s New Year Day speech should have brought millions of Nigerians to the streets in angry protests.
When first I listened to the President making that speech I could not believe my ears, so I had to wait until the mainstream media published the full text of the speech, and there it was in cold print: “Negotiations are also advanced for the construction of other railway lines, firstly from Kano to Maradi in Niger Republic passing through Kazaure, Daura, Katsina, Jibia to Maradi”.

“PLEASE, I BEG YOU...DON'T RUN FOR A SECOND TERM. GO HOME WITH YOUR HONOUR INTACT”

DELE MOMODU WRITES PRESIDENT BUHARI AGAIN! (UNEDITED)

Kindly permit me to be as brutally frank as possible. As a stakeholder who made his modest contribution to your emergence as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I owe you nothing but the truth. I was not a member of your party when I volunteered to support your mission and ambition in 2015, was elated when Nigerians succeeded in chasing away the profligate and reckless government of the PDP, led by President Goodluck Jonathan. I was one of those who unleashed terror on that government and I subsequently presented you with a compilation of my articles in which I criticised and advised the then President, free of charge. I never expected that our situation could ever get worse under the APC government that almost literally promised heaven and earth. But it has become evident that it is easier to govern by words of mouth than by force of action.

OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY, THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF ABIA STATE

By  Nnabugwu Chizoba (Development Practitioner)

Dear Governor, Abia state.

On the 27th August, 1991, Abia state was created as a response to the demand of the leaders then, who reasoned that it would be a very viable platform to among other objectives, pursue the collective agenda of meeting the real developmental needs of the people of the state.

With you as the Governor and your administration at the center of affairs today, you stand face to face with Abia destiny: Development of Abia state, dignity of Umu-Abia, emancipation of the oppressed among the Umu-Abia, forward marching of Umu-Abia, and the realization of the full potential of Umu-Abia, in a way and manner that the spirit of Onye-ayala-nwanneya is at the centre. Your Excellency this is a challenge before you.
