NIGERIAN POLICE CLEARS BABA HASSAN AS FEDERAL HIGH COURT JOS SETS JULY 6TH, 2016, FOR RULING

By Nnabugwu Chizoba

The Federal High Court, sitting in Jos, the Plateau State Capital, has on June 20th, 2016 adjourned till July 6th, 2016 for ruling, on a case many political observers and admirers on the Plateau, have described as in-house fight.

The case is between Hon. Abdul Saleh and Hon. Baba Hassan. Hon. Saleh and Hon. Baba Hassan are members of the All Progressive Congress (APC). The case is an election matter, in which Hon. Abdul Saleh is challenging, the qualification of Hon. Baba Hassan to contest the 2015 General Election into the Plateau State House of Assembly.

The Plaintiff in the suit, Hon. Abdul Saleh, through his Council, Barr. D.C Ibeawuchi, is challenging the authenticity of the certificate Hon. Baba Hassan submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as part of the requirements necessary to contest for election into the Plateau State House of Assembly seat, to represent the Jos North North constituency in the 2015 general election, in Nigeria.

However, at the resumed hearing of the case, at the Federal High Court, in Jos, Council to the Defendant, Solomon Umoh, SAN, seem to have put to rest the alleged criminal issue, when he told the court that the police has done their investigation, and on a personal communication with the police through his firm, the police wrote his office that the allegation of Baba Hassan not completing his studies at the University of Jos, was false. He said “the police report indicated that Hon Baba Hassan completed his studies”.

2016 FATHERS DAY, A SPECIAL ONE

By Nnabugwu Chizoba

This year 2016, marks 106 years that Fathers’ Day began. An event that is organized annually to honour and acknowledge the role of Fathers, in the Family setting and to celebrate Fatherhood, generally.

To ensure that you won’t forget, let me also remind you that it is also a day, to celebrate Grandfathers, Great Grandfathers and Father figures for their contributions, individually/severally and collectively.

This reminder is very important, especially when you consider that many people including you, my esteemed reader, may not have included them in your programme of events today. Please find a way to adjust your schedule.

As a matter of fact some of them, especially the Great Grandfathers, are very weak, and no longer move about while some of them are not lucky to always have their Great Grandchildren around. Similarly, some of them do not have anybody to take care of them.

TEENS CORNER – I’M PROUD TO HAVE A FATHER

BY PRINCE EMMANUEL C. UMAHI, AKA DE LYRICAL POET

♫ I’m glad
    That I have a dad
Who thought me not to subtract
    But add
So I’m always happy and not sad.
     Through all the troubles
      And struggles
     Daddy was always there
And he taught me that God is everywhere.

♫ He is the sunshine to the rain
And the rainbow that gives joy
    To every pain.
He is the perfect husband to his wife
And he represents Christ without strife
    He speaks like a prophet
And synchronizes harmony like a duet.

365 DAYS IN OFFICE: THE STRIDES OF RT. HON YUSUF GAGDI, DEPUTY SPEAKER, PLATEAU STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, NIGERIA

By Nnabugwu Chizoba

Rt. Hon. Gagdi, Deputy Speaker PLHA
As the first Legislative 365 days of the 2015/2016 legislative session, has come and counted in the country, the need for stock taking has dragged most representatives back home to give account of their stewardship. But for Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, it was rather a time to interact with the media to fine tune the way forward for the new Legislative second year, as he has continued to be around his people, “the good people of Kantana Constituency.

In his recent interaction with media practitioners in Plateau State in his office at the Plateau State House of Assembly complex, Rt. Hon Gagdi has disclosed that:

“As a Deputy Speaker and a member representing my constituency, I have been trying my best to do better than I was doing, when I was not a representative of my people. As an ordinary citizen of my Community, I was able to sponsor students from my constituency into the university, polytechnic, and collages of education. If as an ordinary citizen in kanam LGA, I was able to donate 17 cars, and 63 motor cycles; today as a member of the State Assembly, the people certainly expect that I should do more. This is one of the areas I have tried my possible best to put a line between what I used to do then and now as a legislator. It is a very big challenge”.
