“THE FIRST BREATH IS THE BEGINNING OF DEATH”

I remember him always. My desire to share with you this piece, my esteemed reader and friend; is borne out of respect, honour, care, love for him, in addition to my understanding and belief that there could be something to learn, benefit, gather, or add to your knowledge and experience from the lines you are about to read. I PRESENT TO YOU, THE:

FUNERAL ORATION OF LATE MR OKENGWU NNABUGWU ELENDU

Nobody needs to be told how hard it shook my family, to wake up to the news that we have recorded another death, within 3 months.

Not a very sweet experience. As a matter of fact, it is depressing and agonizing. It was really a devastating moment, for us in the family. May be it is for the same reason, that the faces steering at me in this gathering speaks volume, yet says nothing.

The faces, on a very close observation seem to be asking:
·        What could have gone wrong?
·        What is possibly the cause?
·        Why now?

There are other reactions in the faces am seeing now that I cannot decode, interpret, or comprehend. I then ask: Do you think this is one death too many?

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), in Plateau State, has called for a dialogue between her and the Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) over the recent demand notice on loading and offloading of goods in the state issued by the Agency.
You would recall that MAN was established in 1971, to serve as a point of reference for Government and others who seek the view and reaction(s) of the Association. In addition to this, MAN has the responsibility: to advice, consult and when necessary take up issues with government and other bodies on matters that affect Manufacturers. From the Law establishing the Association, MAN operates a representative membership structure.

TEENS CORNER : Prince Emmanuel C. Umahi writes on SCHOOL LIFE

By Prince Umahi, (AKA) De Lyrical Poet

School life was an interesting journey
Where we disagreed, fought but reconciled in harmony.
    We all had different backgrounds,
But whenever there was a challenge, we never backed down.
Everybody had His/her own unique talent
But we were in unison despite been different.

♫ I remember my first day in Command Day Secondary School,
I had much gladness, but I kept my cool.
    I saw a new dawn
At the peak of my academic horizon.
Though the school anthem was stressful,
I learnt it as a new song.

In Jss1, I tried to be among the top students
And hold onto success, griming as a beloved parent.
Life was fun at that tender age
And I knew I had entered a new stage.
Secondary school was a world of its own
Where kings had different crowns and thrones.

THANKSGIVING AND BAPTISMAL SERVICE OF KAMSIYOCHUKWU CHANA CHIMAMANDA ILO

Report by Nnabugwu Chizoba

The birth of a Child is a joyous occasion in the life of a family. It is always an occasion for rejoicing, celebration and thanksgiving, not only to the family members, but also, friends, neighbours and the entire community, as a whole.

For the Christian Families, like the Ekene Ilo family, it is a practice to present and dedicate their new born to God Almighty, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings, through a Church service. This presentation of the Child in the Church is also a moment for the Parents to return thanks to God for His protection over the woman during Child-birth. Hence, it is a spiritual obligation that true Christians perform with joy, praises and thanksgiving.
For the Family of Ekene and Florence Ilo, of St Piran’s Church, Jos, Plateau State, Sunday, the 21st of August 2016, is not just, any other day. This is because the day presented an opportunity, for the Family to present to the Almighty God, through the Church of St Piran’s, their daughter, KAMSIYOCHUKWU CHANA CHIMAMANDA ILO.

THE GOVERNOR OF PLATEAU STATE, RT. HON. SIMON BAKO LALONG’S ADDRESS, AT THE INAUGURATION OF THE JUDICIAL COMMISSION OF INQUIRY, SET UP BY HIM

PROTOCOL

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, today is a remarkable day, because it goes further to show our commitment as a government, to ensure probity, accountability and transparency in the act governance.
It will be recalled that since assumption of office, the APC Rescue Government in the State under my leadership, has not failed to repeatedly reiterate our desire to ensure that the past administration, is made to give public account of its stewardship in the State.

This became a necessity, which out of duty and a good conscience we cannot afford to ignore, given the magnitude of information at our disposal; beginning from the submission of the transition committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Prof. Sonni Gwanle Tyoden and the various ministerial verification committees, as well the preliminary audit and accounts reconciliation committee information before government, which revealed huge debts inherited from the last administration. This past one year facts are daily denied, twisted and distorted; This is indeed worrisome. It is the belief of my administration that only after facts are publicly obtained and tested, will the truth be brought to bear on the issues agitating the minds of Patriotic Plateau People, hence the new line of action.
