IKENGA AND ITS RELEVANCE TO THE IGBO NATION

Ikenga is a cultural artifact and one of the most popular symbols of the Igbo people as well as other ethnic groups like the Edo, Ijaw, Isoko, Urhobo and Igala people. The widespread nature of the usage shows that the various ethnic groups must have interacted closely both in commercial, political, social and cultural affairs before the coming of the white man. Among the Edo people it is known as Ikegabo while the Isoko people ‘‘recognizes three personal shrines images which are the ‘’Oma’’ which represents ‘‘spirit double’’ in the other world, ‘’Obo’’ symbolizes the right hand and personal endeavour and the Ivri represents personal determination.’’ The Igala people recognise it as “Okega”.

BREAKING: GOODLUCK JONATHAN EXPRESSES INTEREST IN 2019

Former president Goodluck Jonathan has declared his interest to run for presidency in 2019 in Bayelsa State today. A jubilant crowd erupted as news leaked that the former president would be holding a press briefing this afternoon.
“In a statement released by his media secretary, the former president said, he has been inundated with calls from famous Nigerians to reconsider and salvage the economy from the current decay under the APC led government.
The statement reads in part: “A while ago I stood at the Eagle Square, to offer myself for election as the President of our beloved country on the platform of our great party; the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). I decided to run for office because of the many troubles our dear country faced.
“In a hotly contested election, we ‘lost’ the election to the opposition. We would have rejected the election results but decided my personal ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.
“I made it clear then that when I leave office, Nigerians will understand the freedom they enjoyed under my administration. Are my I saint? Certainly not. Were my Ministers saints? Certainly not. But the opposition have unleashed untold hardship on Nigerians.

ABIA AT 31ST: THE GOVERNOR'S ADDRESS

State Broadcast by Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Governor, Abia State on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Abia State on Saturday August 27th 2022.

MY GOOD PEOPLE OF ABIA STATE,

It is with thanksgiving that I address you today on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the creation of Abia State.

I note that this will be my last Abia Day Broadcast to you as your elected Governor as by this time next year, you will be hearing from my successor whom God will select for you.

We have been together on this journey for the last 7 years and counting. We have weathered storms and celebrated triumphs. One thing I am not in doubt of is the fact that we have taken Abia State further than we met it 7 years ago.

YOUR RESPONSE TO EVENTS IS WHAT MATTERS, FOCUS ON IT, DEFEAT THE EVENT, THERE THE NEWS IS

Do not judge a book by its cover!!

This happened at a PhD exit seminar at BSU and the student dressed this way to the presentation. The lecturers were all angry at him and began to rain insults. He stood crying as they said horrible things about him.

NIGERIA AND INDIA'S DEVELOPMENT

The biggest country in Africa that the United Kingdom colonized is Nigeria. The biggest country that the United Kingdom colonized in Asia is India (which then comprised the present Pakistan and Bangladesh). When the UK came into Nigeria and India, like all other countries they colonized, they brought along their technology, religion (Christianity), and culture: names, dressing, food, language, etc.

FEW OF THE MANY FACES OF IGNORANCE

The judge asked the killer of former Egyptian President, Anwar Sadat, "Why did you kill Sadat?"

He said to him, "Because he is secular!"

The judge replied: "What does secular mean?"

The killer said: "I don't know!"

In the case of the attempted assassination of the late Egyptian writer, Naguib Mahfouz,  the judge asked the man who stabbed Naguib Mahfouz, "Why did you stab him?"
