TEXT OF A STATEWIDE BROADCAST BY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF PLATEAU STATE, HIS EXCELLENCY, BARR. CALEB MANASSEH MUTFWANG TO MARK NIGERIA’S 63RD INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY, ON OCTOBER 01, 2023.

My dear fellow citizens of Plateau State,

1. It is with utmost pleasure and humility that I address you on this special day, which marks Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary. With profound gratitude to the Almighty God, we come together on this special day to reflect on our past, celebrate our present achievements, and collectively envision a brighter future for our beloved nation. On this day, we must express appreciation to our founding fathers for their great sacrifices and the patriotism they demonstrated on our journey to independence.

Today is October 1, 2023. October 1st is a remarkable day in Nigeria. For the year 2023 and the Nigerians all over the Globe, today marks the 63 years of Nigeria’s independence from colonial rule, and is celebrated nationally as “Independence Day” in Nigeria.

NAGLI CONDEMNS PROFILING AND MISREPRESENTATION OF THE IGBO TRIBE IN "Fundamentals of Civic Education for Basic 8 (JSS 2)"

The “Network for Advocacy and Good Leadership Initiative (NAGLI)” strongly condemns the derogatory and misleading description of the Igbo tribe as invaders and troubleshooters in the book titled "Fundamentals of Civic Education for Basic 8 (JSS 2)," authored by Sola Akinyemi and published by Fatsoholy Ventures. This misrepresentation in “page 38” is not only offensive but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes and undermines the principles of inclusivity and unity in our nation.
