Plateau United Football Club of Jos, were Sunday, 10th July, 2016, held to a
draw in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) by
vistiting Akwa United Football Club of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Plateau United who took the lead
via a well taken shot by Kelechi John, in the 49th minute, but could not hold on to
the lead, as they allowed Akwa United who came on strongly after the goal to equalize, through a goal by
Friday Ubong in the 74th minute. The equalizer was the result of a pull out that goal keeper Danladi Isah
of Plateau United, misjudged and the ball went into the net.
Soon after the goal was scored, the game almost lost the steam that was witnessed in the early minutes of the game. However, some individual efforts from both sides, from time to time was the only thing the spectators, mostly fans of both sides could rely on for quite sometime.
All efforts by the Lalong boys, as the Plateau United FC, is fondly called, to
score another goal and redeem the three points at stake, proved abortive, as Akwa United were resolute in the defense
with goal keeper Kayode Olufemi making sure that he did not concede another goal in the match.

In some of the results in other week 26 fixtures, Kano Pillars were the biggest winners over the weekend. The Club thrashed Lobi stars of Makurdi 3:0 at the Sani Abacha stadium, in Kano, the Kano State Capital. Wikki
Tourists of Bauchi returned to the summit of the league table after pulling a 1-1 draw
in Warri, against Warri Wolves.
