MUSEUM EDUCATION OUTREACH AND SENSITIZATION OF COMMUNITIES

Museum education is a specialized field devoted to developing and strengthening the education roles of informal education, spaces and institutions such as the museum.

Museum outreach entails planning, organizing basic activities of the museum and reaching out to the communities, creating awareness and collaborating/synergizing with the communities for and enlarged museum programme (s) through education.

Museums all over the world is a fast growing institution in cultural endowment. Many discoveries are made daily by the archeologist and ethnographers in the field. As it is an on-going phenomenal, the speed must be kept going in the sand of time. Therefore, institutions, communities, societies and individuals must be seen to be keeping the train moving through collaborative activities channeled towards achieving the set objectives.

Museums and cultural institutions can work with local organizations and community groups to develope collaborative events, exhibitions, and programs. This will not only foster a sense of ownership, and pride, within the community, but also helps to showcase local talent and stories.
