October 16th annually is celebrated in the globe as the International White Cane Safety Day.
This year 2025, as always, the Day was celebrated in grand style in Jos, the Capital of Plateau state, North Central Nigeria.
Instead of the usual date of October 16th, the International White Cane Safety Day was celebrated on a different date in Jos, Plateau state.
The date was celebrated just a day after the usual date, on Thursday, October 17th, 2025 for the vision impaired in Plateau state by a Jos based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), the Redemption International for the Blind.

The event witnessed the presence of some dignitaries, among who is the Chairman, Disability Rights Commission, Plateau State, Mr Lengnen Jurmang, described by some speakers at the event as a big friend of the vulnerable disability community in Plateau state.
According to one of the speakers, a vision impaired person himself, Mr Lengnen Jurmang, is a slave to time, especially, when invited for any event by any of the cluster Groups under the umbrella of the Persons-With-Disabilities (PWDs).
