Speaking to Scoreline, Barrister Nungji Salama Bulus said the choice of Plateau State by the African Film Institute for the programme is deeply appreciated. He noted also that the location of the training, the approach and delivery pattern adopted by the AFI are noteworthy.
Barr Bulus applauded the African Film Institute for what he described as their unflinching and unwavering commitment to the success of the programme. He extended his appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Education, and commended the ministry for supporting the African Film Institute, who doubles also as the organiser of the flag off event and implementer of the 6 months skills acquisition, education and training programme holding in Jos, the Plateau state capital, saying, the African Film Institute (AFI) and the ministry of education deserve commendations and accolades.
Barr Bulus noted that Citizens and other residents of Plateau state are with the African Film Institute and the federal ministry of education on the programme. He went on to call on residents of the state, described by him as very special people, to lend their support to the AFI and the Education ministry to ensure that success of the 6 months skills acquisition oriented programme in Plateau state, by ensuring that the entire environment of Plateau state is conducive and supportive of the efforts and activities designed by the organisers of the programme.
He urged participants of the 6 months human capacity building programme to embrace the opportunity brought to them on a platter of gold by the African Film Institute and the Education ministry with their two hands, and to always remain grateful to the AFI and the ministry. He equally reminded the participants that Film making is a tool for job creation and wealth generation, and described the film industry as massive employment provider.
On the strength of the above, he charged the participants to bear in mind that they are participating in the programme for the purposes of job creation and wealth generation. He advocated that socio-economic development of Plateau State, through provision of employment and empowerment opportunities in both the urban and rural areas of the state should occupy the mind of the programme participants.
This training portends good for the people and the state, and should be embraced by the participants with zeal, commitment and dedication, Barr Bulus noted.
On the benefits of the training and Film making opportunities in Plateau state, Barrister Bulus was emphatic, saying, the benefits of the training and Film making to Plateau state and the people are as a matter of fact massive. In addition to the direct benefits of film making, are the multiplier effects on the people and the state.
The benefits that accrue from films are huge and occur at different levels, locations and time. They cut across professions, and are open to both sexes, male and female, young and old.
The opportunities for film makers to tap into in Plateau state are not only many but also diversified and readily available. All the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau state are endowed with film makers delight. In Kanke local government area alone, and Ngas land generally, there are indeed, unlimited film makers resources waiting to be harnessed, according to Barr Bulus.
Responding to Scoreline, Barr Bulus said, from the little I know about the film making industry and the film makers, considering that I am not a film maker myself, I can assure you that Plateau State is a virgin land, an untapped fertile ground for film makers.
Continuing, Barr Nungji Salama Bulus remarked "Going by what the African Film Institute is doing presently in Plateau state, I can say that Plateau state is the next Global destination for film making.
Aware of the enviable level of both support and followership, especially, hospitality and generosity that the film makers will witness in the state, Kanke and Ngas land in particular, my conviction that Plateau state will soon be the hub of creative industry activities in the Globe continues to grow from strength to strength, the Barrister, Nungji Salama Bulus concluded.
