It is glaringly noticeable, easily traceable and generally accepted by keen followers and ardent lovers of the African Film Institute (AFI) in Plateau state that creation of new programmes and activities, raising of new structures and of course support for both previously existing, and the newly created structures and institutions: both public and private, are of huge interest to the AFI.
Easily identifiable in Plateau state also, is the fact that sustainability is fundamental to the operations of the AFI in the state. This is indicated in the programmes and activities of the Institute in Plateau state. Thus, sustainability is undeniably a major tool of the AFI in determining what the institute accepts in terms of programmes and projects, the viability of course, and indeed implementation of any Project.
Sustainability is a top priority agenda, in the activities of the AFI, as glaringly noticeable in it's programmes in Jos, Plateau state.
The above reveals the reason behind the unflinching commitment and unwavering efforts of the African Film institute in Jos, to raise functional, people oriented and easily accessible value-Chains (VCs), and create Networking opportunities, linkages and Platforms, to ensure steady growth, sustainable development and impact of the film industry in addressing massively, the challenges of job creation and wealth generation and meeting also the poverty reduction needs of Nigerians in Plateau state, and other parts of Nigeria.

The above has indirectly, but succinctly, explained why Saturday, December 13, 2025 will remain a memorable date for a long time for the AFI, the Private Sector international organisation contributing unflinchingly towards the development of both human capital, and infrastructure of the film industry in Plateau state and Nigeria as a whole. The same is true for the Nigerian Film Institute, a National Public sector Institution, and the over 300 trainees of the on-going 6 months, Skills Acquisition training in Film Making and Creative Media Production, organized by the African Film Institute, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria, and holding in Jos, the Plateau state capital.
Why should that date be memorable to them?
On the referenced date, the African Film Institute which in November 2025, created an activity to ensure the Jos film making and creative media production trainees are skilled after their 6 months training, exposed them to a professional Film Making set for two weeks, this time around decided to facilitate a physical meeting between the trainees and some of the star celebrities of the Nigerian Nollywood industry.

The AFI's facilitated Nollywood Stars visit to the trainees comprised male and female, a combination of both the veterans and upcoming actors in Nigeria. The visit by the star actors provided opportunity for a physical interface, and open engagement and interaction between the Star Actors and the trainee Film Makers. As a matter of fact the meeting, engagement and interactions set in motion a very genuine interface for subsequent and continued deliberations, contact building and firm networking activities.
The enthusiasm that radiated in the faces of the Star Actors and the trainees, the beauty that it generated and the comfort, joy and happiness that rented the air and occupied the environment of the meeting, indicate power, conscensus and bonding. It speaks volumes of what emitted out from the gathering, what it produced in the interim, and what it could produce and should produce moving forward.
The venue of the meeting of the star actors was the Nigerian Film Institute in Jos, the only Degree awarding Film Institute in Nigeria.

The value of these visits to the Nigerian Film Institute and in particular the trainees, in terms of the effects on their psyche, and the extent of contact that was created, considering especially, the fact that some of the trainees are stars and celebrities on their own. Among the trainees are academic doctors, other lecturers and business owners and consultants. There were of course the younger generation, among them are the graduates and non-graduates, committed to doing excellent works, creating impact and living memorable impressions.
