What is occupational Safety and Hazards, with regard to the film industry?
First and foremost, let us understand the three concepts below, and in the context of the film industry:
In view of the above, let me note that Occupation in the film industry means a job or role a person plays in the production of a film, video or movie. This covers a wide range of positions or roles.
Among various positions or roles covered as occupation in the film industry are those occupied or played by people for the purpose of making films, videos and movies.
The identified positions and roles below are held and or played in the film industry, by the film:
- Producers
- Directors
- Production Managers
- Production Designers
- Director of Photographs (AKA DP or DoP)
- Sound Engineers
- Light Engineers
- Makeup Artists
- Welfare persons
- Actors
The positions or roles that people occupy or play in the film industry is not here exhausted. There are more positions or roles in the film industry that people occupy or play, and therefore, more occupations in the industry.
In view of the above, it is essential to note that in the concept of Film production or film making is fundamentally, the coming together in a team format of different occupations, represented by different people that undertake different positions, and play specific roles and carry out different functions, tasks and assignments, or jobs, actively to give a story life.

At this juncture, it is also essential to understand the concept of Safety in the film industry. To this end, let me note that Safety in the film industry refers to the actions taken to ensure that everybody; that is, the crew and artists on set and those operating from the office are properly protected from injuries, harm or pain.
Hazards in the film industry are identified, generally, as potential sources of harm to both the crew members and the actors, as well as those saddled with one form of responsibility or the other at the office level.
With the explanation of the three concepts of Occupation, Safety and Hazard do with; the meaning of Occupational Safety and Hazards can is presented:
Occupational Safety and Hazards, shortened for convenience as OSH, and for the purpose or context of the film industry is presented as:
